SHADOW – PITTY MIX – FEMALE – 1.5-2 YEARS OLD?

This sweet girl came to us a few months ago with tragically dangerous health conditions. Her eyes, ears, and skin were horribly infected and she reeked of death. She needed urgent care.

*Warning- the pictures of when Shadow first came into our care are upsetting but we have included them to show how amazingly she has improved!

Our vet jumped to action and we tackled her infections with oral and topical antibiotics. Her skin was so fragile it was difficult to do a skin scraping so the test for mange was inconclusive. We treated for that as well though, just to be sure we were covering all bases. We also used a medication to assist with her horrible constant itchiness. She has been weaned of all these meds now and is doing great.

As you can see by our photos, Shadow is healing by leaps and bounds. She was finally deemed healthy enough to vaccinate, microchip, and spay. We also had our vet run an allergy panel when Shadow was in for her spay surgery this week and it was found that she is allergic to only two things- dust mites and rabbit epi. She will be starting a nine-week allergy treatment of injections that should make her allergies manageable- or better yet, maybe even cure them! This treatment will be transferred at no charge to her adopter.

Shadow is crate-trained but still potties in her crate on occasion. We feel she may have spent a lot of time crated previously, and didn’t learn not to potty in there.

She is your typical sweet goofball bully-type doggo with boundless energy now that she is feeling better. She’s quite a puller on-leash.

Shadow would do well in a home that is ready to provide training and giving this goober the structure she needs to blossom into a well-behaved canine citizen.
